Transition to European Unity League & Crowdfunding
By Jari Rentsch | Oct. 10, 2025
Beginning with the 2026 season, the Swiss Unity League will be fully integrated into the European Unity League.
Swiss Unity League
In January 2023 everything started with the Swiss Unity League, a national tournament series with and end of year championship for the top 40 players.
Any event in Switzerland, from the smallest weekly to the largest Swiss Magic Masters, can participate and award League Points.
European Unity League
In January 2025, we've launched the European Unity League, bringing a similar system to all of Europe.
Any event in Europe from the smallest weekly to the largest Regional Championship can participate and award League points. Each country has their own national leaderboard qualifying the best players for their national championship. From there the top finishers qualify for the European Magic Cup, where national teams compete for €20'000 in prizes.

Transition from SUL to EUL
Since the Swiss Unity League was a proven system for Switzerland, we've decided to stick to it throughout the 2025 Season. Now that European Unity League is established, we're ready to transition the Swiss Unity League to the European system starting from the 2026 Season.
In the following you find all changes that will be taking place.
New website
Our current website, unityleague.ch will be abandoned and instead all rankings, points and events can be found on unityleague.gg.
New season & ranking
The season of the European Unity League has already started and will run from Oct 1st, 2025 until Sep 30th, 2026. This means that during the transition period of Oct 1-31, events in Switzerland will award points for both the last season of SUL and the new season of EUL.
The new leaderboard can be found under: unityleague.gg/ranking/2026/CH
Simplified points system
The EUL uses a simplified points system.
At each event players receive the following points:
-
League Points equal to the match points (includes top 8 matches)
-
3 League Points just for attending
There will be no bonus League Points for reaching the playoffs or similar.
International events award points
Events across Europe and beyond will award points for the Swiss EUL leaderboard.
New name for the finals
Instead of hosting SUL Championships or Invitationals, there will be a single Swiss EUL Nationals hosted on a date in Oct-Dec 2026, that will send a national team to the European Magic Cup in 2027.
Event types
The European Unity League features the following types:
- 1x
Default type for casual events like weeklies and prereleases.
- 3x
Occasional higher multiplier events like RCQs or monthlies.
- 5x
Qualify directly for the European Magic Cup and feature a prize kit.
- 6x
Main events of large conventions, that award 1+ invites to the European Magic Cup.
Regional events have a lower multiplier of 3x (instead of 4x) in the SUL. The reason for this is, because all events award slightly less points in the EUL, which balances out the difference.
Currently the the European Unity League features EUL Qualifier events instead of SUL Premier events. However we plan to reintroduce EUL Premier events starting from January 2026.
Fees for organizers
The European Unity League will also feature a simplified billing system.
free
€1 per participant (additional fees for events with top 4/8 have been removed)
€300, includes a prize kit
custom, only main events of large conventions
Feedback & more changes
Please note, we're currently collecting feedback from all the EUL National Championships and also the SUL Championship later this year. Based on this we plan to announce additional changes to the EUL in January 2026. If you have any concerns about the transitions or ideas for improvement, please reach out to the Unity League team!
Crowdfunding
Launching a continent-wide tournament series is not easy. It comes with lots of costs related to software development and hosting, but also marketing expenses for streaming tools, articles and promoted events. We believe in 1-2 years the European Unity League will be a fully self-sustaining system, but in the mean time we need support to bridge the gap.
For this reason we're launching a crowdfunding campaign. Your support will help us to improve our platform & tournament coverage, and bring the league to more countries.
You can donate any amount an receive special rewards. For more info visit: unityleague.gg/crowdfunding
